Past, present collide in voting for All-Time 9

Angels fans can have their say: Carew? Eckstein? Figgins?

09/23/09 5:10 AM ET

Wally Joyner, Rod Carew or Kendry Morales?

Jim Fregosi, David Eckstein or Orlando Cabrera?

Doug DeCinces, Troy Glaus or Chone Figgins?

Step up to the plate and voice your choice.

More than 4.1 million votes have been cast since the 9/9/09 debut of the "All-Time 9s," a platform for fans to debate the greatest single-season performances for all 30 Major League franchises. The voting marks the start of MLB.com's Lineup Card campaign, a gathering place for the posting and never-ending discussion of the greatest past and present lineups.

Angels fans can vote for their favorite players at angelsbaseball.com.

Here's a look at how the Angels' closest races are shaping up:

Carew, Joyner and Morales are in a heated battle at first base. Carew, the Hall of Famer with the magic wand, is trying to hold off the slick-fielding, smooth-swinging Joyner, with Morales, in the midst of a breakout campaign with slugging numbers rivaling the best in the game, also generating support.

The balloting for the three outfield spots is intense with Don Baylor, Darin Erstad and Garret Anderson within a few hundred votes of each other in pursuit of the third spot alongside Vladimir Guerrero and Tim Salmon.

Eckstein, unassuming star of the 2002 World Series champions, is attempting to overtake Fregosi, the face of the franchise in its early days, in the spirited voting at shortstop. Cabrera, who claimed a Gold Glove in 2007 for the Angels, also is very much in the picture.

Fans are encouraged to join the fun and jump into the balloting before it's too late.
